I'm running into one problem I hope I can get resolved and then I can pick up the pro version. I have a USB Webcam, (Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000), which supports up to 640x480. I have this selected for both Input and Output on the Camera configuration screen. Using TyCapture for the Capture Interface. The "Preview" seems to be the full 640x480 however the Motion detection video recording gives me this error in the log: 08:05:16 Video Save Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000-1 warning image resizing from 320x240 to 640x480 The Video comes out as 320x240, and so does the still images from the motion detection. I've tried re-adding and reconfiguring the camera, selecting a different resolution and then re selecting the 640x480, but it still does not use the higher resolution. I'm thinking about getting a higher quality webcam to use with AbelCam, and it goes up to 720p. Aber ich kriegs nicht auf die Reihe :-( Diese ganze Geschwafel über Webserver, Router, TCP, 8080 etc, und dann noch auf Englich, ist für mich wie Chinesisch. Habe Vista (leider). Auf die Kamera kann nicht zugegriffen werden. Provider ist 1&1, hab ne Fritzbox (also einen Router?) mit WLAN. Was muß ich tun? I've found the Windows Media Server option to be quite slow and bandwidth intense, and this is a way to get good audio feed at low bandwidth (Skype compresses audio excellently). Bonus 1: works for both Macs and PCs. Bonus 2: Doesn't require any technical skills (as might be needed to use AbelCam's command features). You'll have to get a "one off" AbelCam Skype account (which is free) and also have another Skype account to call the AbelCam Skype account. Remember, Skype to Skype calls are internet only and free. 1. Get Skype account for your server. Activate Skype and login. 2. Go to Skype's TOOLS then OPTIONS menu. 3. Click on START SKYPE WHEN I START WINDOWS (under the General Settings) 4. Click on CALLS then click on SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS. 5. Set account to ANSWER INCOMING CALLS AUTOMATICALLY. 6. Set account to ALLOW CALLS FROM PEOPLE IN MY CONTACT LIST ONLY. 7. Click on SAVE. 8. From the main Skype screen, add a contact for your regular (or any other) Skype account. I set this up for only a single account (mine) so that only I can call and have my call accepted. Both accounts will have to accept each other as a contact which you should do before using this technique. You could allow multiple accounts, but 1 account means only THAT account can access the Skype/audio feed. I ensure that Skype starts up and logs in automatically on my AbelCam box at system startup (this is in Skype's "General Settings" so that Skype is running on the AbelCam box ready to receive calls at all times. When I want to activate the audio, I just call the Skype account on my AbelCam box, it answers automatically, and any internal or external microphones (I use an external one) will pick up the ambient audio. Access your AbelCam video feed and enjoy the full audio/video experience. You can also use Skype this way to broadcast sound (shouting at my cats - "get off the couch!" but beware you might have feedback issues with your microphone. Probably set speakers far away from microphone. I've found a couple of Skype users who've been able to get 100 hours of continuous connectivity, though I wouldn't rely upon that for industrial use. But I would like to have pan tilt support and this is not supported. Axis, Panasonic and so on IP cameras are supported inc. channel nummer selection and username/password. I'm curious if any "event" hook is available in AbelCam today. Example - On motion detection, spawn another process with passed in variables (possibly using the Scheduler?) My end-goal is to be able to inject EXIF data into a JPEG image that was created off Motion detection. Putting the name of the .WMV that has captured video of this Motion as well. This way I could look at all my motion still pictures and then click on any of them to get the related 30 second video/audio of what was going. My initial thought is to use PHP-EXIF to get the data into the JPEG. Then tie it all together with a PHP Picture Gallery script for viewing the stills and related video from a web browser. Another thought is to occasionaly/schedule a comparison of my image time-stamps with my video time stamps and try to correlate the "closest" time between the two. Seems like a margin of error would exist here. And the length and time of video would need to be folded into the equation. I've been able to make my PC the new electronic sentry for my webcams, TV tuner and PC use. I'm at a point where the X10 plug-in also looks like something I could use to start extending out the control over my other household appliances. How do I go about getting involved with the AbelCam X10 hooks? Is this feature available for beta use yet? A license I need to buy? Any good primers or documentation on this that I can read? I have played the affected clips with multiple players with the same results. I was running AC webserver option but was concerned that this might be causing it. Two web cams configured and added to AbelCAM 1. Creative Live Motion PTZ 2. PS3Eye Camera by using CL-Eye Driver (http://codelaboratories.com/get/cl-eye-driver/) First Problem : If I use an older version of CL-Eye driver (CL-Eye-Driver-4.0.0.1230) then the camera is detected and installed correctly in AbelCam and display is shown. (indicated by Red light in camera front turned on) If I upgrade to the latest version of CL-Eye driver (CL-Eye-Driver-4.0.1.0501) then even though the camera still works fine and can show the display (checked via camera display option in control panel), but some how the camera does not works properly in AbelCam. It is added in the camera list but never starts the display even when clicking the small camera button on/off (beneath the display window). This camera also has a USB Mic. built in, so can the AbelCam be configured in a such a way that it streams the audio (via the mic) whenever I access the Abelcam via internet from a remote location. Anyone having any similar problems and a possible solution. Second Problem: Both the cameras are added to AbelCam and running. If Skype (4.xx) is run simultaneously to use any one of the camera for audio/video chat , then skype crashes when accessing any of the cameras (whether in the chat or in audio/video setup). Any possible workaround for it. I know an easy way is to quit AbelCam before using skype, but something which can make them live together at the same time. I purchased a Pro License and started testing the setup and modifying the Html pages to satisfy myself the system would work for my client's 35 properties. They mostly have Windows XP at this point but that is changing. I am trying to picture their response to me saying "Your computer at that property is dead and we are getting a new one but your office and parking lot cameras will not work anymore."
