Windows 7 Abelcam Service

Looking for some help getting Abelcam running as a service under Win7Pro 64bit. Looking under the Abelcam> Tools> menu, I don't see the install or remove as a service option. (Like I see in the screenshot tutorial on xp)

This is the last bump I need to get over and join the ranks of paying customer.

As Microsoft has changed the requirements for software running as service in Windows Vista and Windows 7, AbelCam can't run as service on those systems and does not offer the option to be installed as service.
AbelCam may run as service on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Future versions may change this, but the reimplementation as service is not among the most important items on the ToDo list.

Sean, AbelCam can now run as service on Windows 7. Please try the latest beta, available in the Members Only section.

Sean, I had a look at your log file. Maybe your Win7 Home does not like the way I request elevated privileges to control the service installation / status. I can only test with Windows 7 Professional here.

I'll add a command line parameter for the next version to prevent this routine - but you'll have to start the shortcuts 'as Administrator'.

Not win7 error, I've WinXP SP3 FR

Since My upgrade in 4.1.2 (release 2011-01-14) , my service doesn't start anymore, I can't remove the service, a reboot does not correct the error.

In the computer management the service start return an error 1053 : service did not respond quickly to the demand.

Eventviewer system return event 7009 (30000 milliseconds...) and after that an event 7000

Eventviewer applications return event 1023 with
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3615 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A0979AE) (80131506)

Any Idea ? Thanks

Hello,

So I can now install/remove/run the service just fine with the latest build. Thanks! I can get it to run as a user or system routine. However, it doesn't appear to be working as far as I can tell. I'm trying to get to it from the built-in webserver. I can't connect to the web port, however, just times out. Am I missing something?

Sean,
to figure out what AbelCam is doing as Service you need to enable the debug log (with AbelCam.exe) and then start the service.

The log file should tell you what's going on and if there's a problem.

To check active tcp ports you can use the command line utility netstat - this will let you know if abelsvc.exe is listening on the port you configured.
