I need to be able to use the PTZ functions remotely, however, I do not want logisphere to do my image processing or capture the camera (as it interferes with the other program I use to do the streaming). I can click and control the camera via the logisphere interface when the cam is not active, but I can't control it via web commands (localhost:8080/command) when the camera is not active, even though the PTZ functions are. Is this possible?

LogiSphere > 2.0.7 (and < 2.0) supports this.
LogiSphere 2.0.8 is available for members already,
see LogiSphere Issues
Use the new cam type PTZOnly

Actually, I still can't get it to work. Setting up my orbit as ptz only, I can still only control it via the software, the webserver still states that the cam is offline and won't respond to any localhost:8080/up-1 type commands (404 file not found).

Nevermind, I wasn't sending the cam# in the url, works now. Thanks for all your help.

Next question, I'm trying to figure out the proper command to zoom. When I was using 2.0.7 it was zoom0-+.02, however now I cannot get that to work via the web.

I just tried this out here, using a Creative LiveMotion camera. I thought it might be as simple as just turning on "Use Driver Zoom" checkbox, but that didn't help. After trying everything I could think of, I have concluded that URL Zoom Control for TPZ Only devicetype just doesn't work in this 2.0.8 release.
I'll make mention of it on Issue Tracker when I post my 2.0.8 test report in a little while.

I tried combinations of commands / use driver zoom on and off for a few hours, trying to find some combination that worked to no avail. Thank you for reassuring me I'm not crazy and it's not just my setup. Much appreciated.

you're not crazy, Robert.
Right now, 2.0.8 only accepts zoom when a cam is active. This will be fixed...

Works now (in the latest pre-release build.)
Get it RIGHT HERE.
