I can't tell you anything specific about Vista, but I am quite familiar with the inner workings of AbelCam's TrackerPod support routines. The main thing to keep in mind when using AbelCam + TrackerPod on any O/S is that AbelCam requires that NO other TrackerPod software (especially the little blue server-thing that sits in the System Tray) be running, and it prefers that other TrackerPod software not even be installed on the system. If your system is already free of TrackerPod software then there's nothing else I can really suggest at the moment.

When you say the TrackerPod is recognized, do you mean that it's showing up in the Device Manager? As a HID-Class Device? If it's getting classified as something other than ID-Class, that's a problem.

There's nothing "funky" being done in the AbelCam Trackerpod routines that would seem likely - at first glance at least - to upset Vista.

Let us know how it goes...

Well it shows up as an HID compliant device in device manager and it shows up in the dropdown menu in the PTZ configuration menu of Abelcam but when I attempt to enable it. I hear the usb ding sound as it tries to connect then disconnect (like when a usb device is manually unplugged) and it says connection to trackerpod-1 failed

Did you try testing the TrackerPod with the software that comes with it? If so, does it work right?

I am thinking that the Vista Plug n Play manager is somehow taking offense to the reset that AbelCam sends down to the Pod as part of initialization. If that's correct, it may take a while to get a fix for it. I believe SSE has set up a Vista box just in the last few days, so that stuff like this can get worked out soon. AbelCam doesn't really "officially" run on Vista just yet, though some seem to have gotten it to work.

Well I solved the Trackerpod connect issue in vista. Seems that UAC (User Account Control) must be enabled. If it's disabled it doesn't connect. This is a known qwerky little vista bug that also affects connecting to network printers. I'll work with it a bit more tonight and seee if any other Vista issues arise.

I am very glad to hear that.
Maybe you could write down the procedures required to get it to work?
