Camera Licenses

I just installed the free version to test it. I want to try two cameras. I thought I could run up to ten. As nearly as I can tell now I have to have a license for each additional camera beyond 1. This is not clear to me. I can't find information on this (much less a price or way to order).

The License overview shows three different program states:

- no license -> 30min runtime limit

- Free license -> 6hrs run time limit, one cam active

- Pro license -> no time limit, 1 + number of Cam Licenses concurrent cameras

You'll find prices in the Shop: http://www.multicamserver.com/buySoftware

Ok, I have the software working with 1 camera, but since there is no way to test the "Multi-Camera Server" with 2 or more cameras for free I cannot perform a valid "test". I'm also very unhappy with the frame rate between my 2 PC's on my home LAN.

So far: Not a keeper.

I have the same problem, but I decided to "risk" the $$$ and purchased a PRO license + 1 camera license. I believe I entered all license info correctly and the camera license screen is showing my license. No luck this far, can't seem to get 2 cameras going...

Johannes failed to install the camera license as suggested,
he did not have a look at the help page sent with the license,
and he forgot to mention that he asked me for help and received an answer within half an hour although it's way past office hours here in Switzerland...

Johannes, have you not received more of my time than you have paid for already Huh?

Add My Time To That Too!

I was typing this answer and saw SSE's post when I previewed my work. This whole thread is full of negativity from people who refuse to follow instructions - perhaps it should be deleted.

From the info you provided it's hard to say what the problem is.

First thing to do: check on the Web tab, lower right corner above the Save button. Does it say "2 Cameras Licensed"? If not, there's a problem with the camera license. Try entering your camera license again, making sure you type a carriage return after the last character of the license key. Sometimes if that trailing carriage return is missing the software doesn't read the key correctly.

Now, if it does say "2 cameras licensed" then the problem is not with the licensing and could be a number of other things. If that's the case, post more info such as:

1) Are you able to add both your cams to the Device List? If not then your cam drivers may not be working right.

2) If you can add the both cams, when does the problem appear? When trying to start the second cam? If so, what is appearing in the logger window when you try to start the cam.

3) Any other observations that you think might help clarify the nature of the problem.

Thank you for your support, Melvin

Johannes had sent me an email before he posted here, and sent an image of his camera license form.
It just had the license, not the famous dashed lines and the rest - clearly a difference from what's documented in the help file.

I do know that it's tempting to just put in the license key, that's why I send the URL of the help page with the license.

I was tempted to delete entries here and also some in other threads.
But I want this forum to be open to all people and let the user decide if a post is relevant or not.

What I don't like is that some people are just too lazy to read documentation (maybe there's too much by now??) and then complain when things don't work the way they expect it to.

I agree that this thread is particularly bad - the first entry claims 'cant find where to buy' and literally every page on this site has the url to the shop on the left in the menu - most of them even emphasized with light green...

Well - I'll answer and reanswer the same questions over and over, until people overread stuff because they think it's all just redundant information Undecided

Maybe Johannes can suggest better instructions for the Camera License entry that will make it easier for future users??
