Hi,
It seems that my computer does not go into standby/hibernate when AbelCam is running. This is probably the way most people want it.
I have set standby after 15 mins and hibernate after 30 mins.
Question is if it is AbelCam that prevents standby/hibernate, or it is something else?
Cheers,
Morten

Hello Morten
AbelCam does not change any settings nor try to influence the computers behaviour.
It is probably the cam driver which blocks power saving modes.
Many camera drivers cannot handle waking up from power saving modes

Hi,
Thank you.
Any idea where my TV tuner has a setting to control this (if any)? I think the program that came with the tuner (WinTV2000) has a setting named something like "enable hibernation", but as you know, I use AbelCam.
I have scheduled task that runs every 15 mins past, that uses psshutdown to hibernate, and one that runs at every hour that wakes up the computer again. So I almost have what I need, but it would be nice to avoid my own hibernate.
But there is also something that AbelCam don't like, look at this log file:

I know from my own log file, that the computer has been active for 15 mins each hour durring the night.
When the computer woke up at 08:00, the Cam button was grey, and I pressed it and it got green, and preview was working. Isn't the "selfcheck" function supposed to "press" the Cam button itself, or didn't I wait enough? I have set the check time to 10 mins. I have now lowered it to 5 mins.
After 08:55 the computer has been on all time, and the preview open, so it seems to work, but the scheduled "save local file" seems not to be running?

Hi,
Here is a more clean example.

13:19:40 Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture-1 switched Video Input to Video Composite
13:19:40 One Device active
At 12:24 I restarted the PC. AbelCam is setto start at startup. At 12:45 my scheduled task hibernates the PC. At 13:00 my scheduled task wakes up the PC, the Cam button was grey. At 13:15 my scheduled task hibernates the PC. At 13:19 I started the PC manually, and had to press the grey Cam button.
Is this easy to explain, or do we need a debug file?

Hello Morten
the cam was deactivated because there was no frame captured for a long time.
The maximum time AbelCam waits for a frame is configured in cam.xml.
You may try to set a higher value for both
<MaxFrameWaitTime>7000</MaxFrameWaitTime>
and
<MaxErrorMessages>3</MaxErrorMessages>
This will help if the cam driver survives hibernation.
Otherwise, try running AbelCam as a service. When hibernating, execute sc stop AbelService when waking up execute sc start AbelService

Hi,
I changed to 70000 and 30, and it seems to work much better now, (see http://www.mortenkjarulff.dk/redekassen (only pictures from 2008-05-16 and on are taken with AbelCam)). It ran all night and most of today, until:

What happened at 10:32:14?
Cheers,

hhmm, something is not working correctly. All night it seems that the same picture has been saved over and over again.
I will try to install AbelCam as a service, and restart it now and then.

Hi,
Tried to install as a service, but then I can't open the "normal" AbelCam, fx to see preview, and capture a video.

Hi,
Fine, I will try that.
When I set this, will the user interface then start automatically, or do I have to start it myself after reboot? Or can I leave the "autostart" option checked on? (The help says "Don't use the Autostart option in the Web configuration form.").
Thank you for your support.

The help is right: the AutoStart option starts AbelCam after logging in,
when configured as Service AbelCam will start even when nobody is logged in.
