I am trying to start AbelCam on Windows XP bootup particularly after a power failure. This would allow me to have AbelCam operational when power returns after a power failure.
When I do that, windows comes up with a dialogue box saying that AbelCam 2.2.2 is already running. However, there is no monitoring because there were no images sent to my web site.
Can you help.

It took a little messing with the software for me to figure this little problem out, as it is very vaguely referenced in the "caveats" section of the help file. "Configure all AbelCam settings before you start it as a service." isn't quite accurate, at least it wasn't for me.
What I needed to do is edit the abelserice.ini file, and set the UserInterface parameter to Yes. Restarting the service also launched the GUI, where I was able to make the changes to the webserver settings. From there, I could access the web interface, and configure the camera.
When launching the program from the start menu, none of the settings appear to have anything in common with settings for abelcam when launched as a service.

The message of "Already running" happens when you try and start the GUI from the start menu, but already have the service running. Stop the service, and start the program from the start menu.

Don, could you please elaborate on that last sentence a bit?
As the settings are stored in xml files in a folder accessible to all users, including SYSTEM (eg. C:\ProgramData\Seiz System Engineering\AbelCam on Vista), the settings should be exactly the same.

Hello and how are you all, we have xp operating sys. , but I'm trying to: configure abelcam to start when the sys. starts, to start abelcam from these steps:

a good help, now I need to know how to keep the camera on for the image to show, or to stay on long enough to focus on and to record: ....... <P>

and that I did have to get the License to work 1st. , because the camera will not come on at all, but the cam will be off in 10 min. at the most 15 min. , but how can it stay on longer to do any images?

use Preview to view your posting before adding it rather than editing it over and over which sends out emails to all people in the thread.
Also, don't put html code in here - if you want a new paragraph, just hit enter.
If you need help, make sure you use the help file delivered with the program, check the tutorials and read what other people posted in the forum.
If you still need help, please write what you have done so far and what your problem is.
