Last week I went to the Logitech Sales office near here and asked for technical information to be able to support their cameras better with my software.
This is the answer I received:
Dear Mr. Seiz
I have bad news for you.
After some clarifications with our head office in Romanel sur Morges unfortunately I receive the following answer:
Logitech does not and will not provide any information at the moment to support 'non Logitech' software. A SDK as for the older cameras is not planned for the moment. The answer is short and concise and unfortunately final. Repeated time-consuming querying in other cases brought nothing.
I am sorry to be unable to give you a better answer.
I guess I don't need to say that I am dissapointed by this user unfriendly attitude. Please use this forum to express your opinion.

Where is the source code? Then by osmosis the problem is solved.

I would not have brought my logitech sphere if it wasn't for the logisphere software! I downloaded it first, loved it so brought the cam (wrong way around I know but I like to research products in depth before I buy them).
That said if the logisphere software wasn't avaliable for free, I would not have brought the cam at all.
Well done and keep up the good work!! But please keep a free version avaliable in the future without limitations, I understand you want to make a living but perhaps the software could be free and you could charge for user support?
BTW a little wish list for a future product: Could you build in some sort of configurable automatic pan and tilt for security? For example, so I could leave it recording and pan and tilt around the room if I wish at different times? for example look out the window for 10 seconds, pan and tilt to the bedroom door and stay there for 20 seconds etc.

That said, just read a license post and there is a timeout on your software. LAME!
I will be taking my cam back for a refund and uninstalling the software now...

Well done and keep up the good work!! In order to keep up the good work, I need some funding

Anonymous,
My grass needs to be cut and my hedges trimed.
Could you come and take care of that for me for free please?
Thanks.

Why should you get this if you can't spend 20 euros to get a Pro License when the webcam costs 6 times as much?
Also, Great post Dennis

I also downloaded your software before buying the camera and that was enough to make me buy it. Logitech, take note!

I am appalled at Logitech's attitude, it was LogiSphere that made the camera work for me, the Logitech supplied software was pretty basic. If IBM had this attitude when they launched the PC, there would be no IBM and no standard platforms, and probably no massive take up of computers, and no Internet, as such. Looks like the Logitech Sphere is doomed to a short life, hardware is just a few plastic mouldings, some chips and a couple of cheap motors. It's software which makes these things functional - and Logitech's offering is only barely average I'm afraid.

Wow, what an ass.
Just wanted to add that I too bought the logitech camera because of this software.
I find it bizarre that they won't share the specs. They should be negotiating to bundle your software with their camera.

You wrote a great piece of software and I really hope for you that it will be generating enough money to make a living out of it. I gladly paid the €30 so I finally can use my webcams the way they were intended to be used.
Keep up the great work!
