Request for information from Logitech rejected

Last week I went to the Logitech Sales office near here and asked for technical information to be able to support their cameras better with my software.

This is the answer I received:

Dear Mr. Seiz
I have bad news for you.
After some clarifications with our head office in Romanel sur Morges unfortunately I receive the following answer:

Logitech does not and will not provide any information at the moment to support 'non Logitech' software. A SDK as for the older cameras is not planned for the moment. The answer is short and concise and unfortunately final. Repeated time-consuming querying in other cases brought nothing.

I am sorry to be unable to give you a better answer.

I guess I don't need to say that I am dissapointed by this user unfriendly attitude. Please use this forum to express your opinion.

I concur w/ Derek - the usefulness of my Orbit is about 100 times more than it was before logisphere. It's a perfectly good webcam but Logitech's particular and limited software rendered it merely interesting and I left it unused. Logitech's attitude is disappointing and ultimately off-putting.

There's only one way to answer this. Don't buy Logitech products.

I know I won't do again.

This might be a silly question. But Stefan, you do have the quickcam 1.0 SDK dont you?
I was not clear from what I have read. But I guess it should be clear from what you have done.Undecided

Dennis, I do have it. It's very outdated and does not help with Logitech cameras you can buy these days.

My Logitech cameras were getting dusty, then I discovered LogiSphere. I have had more fun with LogiSphere than ANY previous 'packaged' software I have purchased.
What is Wrong with 'non Logitech' software?
In the future, they (Logitech) will wonder what went wrong and why sales are slumping!

I am going to use the word "assholes". If it hadn't been for Logisphere software - there is not much extra utility from this camera that cannot be obtained from other cheaper ones. They should be happy that someone is writing software that brings the camera to life!

I am also very disappointed with their (Logitech) response. The only reason I had purchase their web cam (Orbit MP) was with the hopes of having an expensive camera that comes with good software especially motion detection software. I had also chosen to buy Logitech because my younger brother has a very old Logitech camera and it came with motion detection software included. When I opened the package I was so dismay to find there was no such software to support the purpose I had bought the camera for. I immediately went looking for some form of software on the web, and there I found Logisphere “A god sent product”. If it was not for this software, I would have definitely returned the camera the next day and got my $140 back. Thank you very much for such wonderful software that makes this hardware a complete package. Logitech needs to atleast know that if it were not for you, they would be losing a lot of business. I am just 1 customer out of millions.

Hello Stefan,
I would like to access the logitech camera using it for some research
in robotics. Could you give me the library for accessing the camera?
You would help me a lot. I am programming in MS Visual C++.
Thanks!

Almost daily I receive requests like this.

I am trying to make a living writing this software.
Please understand that I will not give away the required DLL for free.
